Glazier in Luxembourg: secured right away, replaced to measure

Window, glass door, shop front or misted double glazing: each case has its own page with the right steps and prices.

Glass is not made in an hour. It is cut to the exact size of your frame. That is why the job happens in two stages.

First, the technician removes the dangerous shards and fits a temporary safety panel. Your home is closed for the night. Measurements are then taken and you are offered the right glass. Fitting takes place as soon as the glass arrives.

1. Send us a photo — On WhatsApp: the pane, the frame and, if possible, a rough measurement. We give you the price of the boarding before we set off.
2. Securing — Shards removed, area cleaned, temporary panel fixed into the frame.
3. Measuring and choosing the glass — Single, double or triple glazing, laminated or toughened: we explain what suits your window.
4. Fitting and invoice — New glass fitted, seal checked, detailed invoice for your insurer.

In the meantime: keep children and pets away, do not pick up shards with bare hands, and take photos before touching anything if you plan to make a claim.

Broken window, glass door or patio door

A ball, a storm, a door slammed too hard: it does not take much to break a pane. Our glazier comes out day or night to remove the shards and close the opening, then returns to replace the glass to the right size. The frame is kept, whether it is wood, uPVC or aluminium. Misted or cracked double glazing

Condensation between the two panes means the sealed unit has failed. It cannot be repaired: we replace the glass unit without changing the window, with at least the same insulation. See double glazing replacement.

Broken shop window

A shop cannot stay open overnight. We board the shop front first, then fit laminated glass, reinforced to EN 356 if needed. See broken shop window.

Window smashed in a burglary

Call the Police grand-ducale first and touch nothing until they have been. After that, the same team can secure the window and repair the lock. See after a burglary.

Single, double, triple glazing

Most homes in Luxembourg have double or triple glazing. Insulation is measured by the Ug value in W/m²·K: the lower it is, the less heat escapes.

Recent argon-filled double glazing is around 1.1; triple glazing around 0.5 to 0.7. When replacing, we match at least the performance of the existing unit.

Laminated and toughened glass

Toughened glass (EN 12150) is heated then cooled quickly. It resists impact better and, if it breaks, crumbles into small, blunt pieces. It is used in glass doors and shower screens.

Laminated glass (EN 14449) is made of several sheets bonded by a plastic interlayer. If it breaks, the pieces stay stuck to the film. It is the safety glass used for shop fronts, balustrades and low windows.

Burglar-resistant glass

EN 356 classifies laminated glass by resistance to attack: P1A to P5A against impact (a steel ball dropped from increasing heights), P6B to P8B against repeated axe blows.

For a ground floor or a shop window, P4A or higher clearly slows down a break-in attempt. We advise you based on how exposed the pane is.

Emergency boarding has a starting price given before we travel. For the final glass, the quote is free: the price depends on size, glass type and access, and it is confirmed from photos and measurements before ordering. The price quoted is the price invoiced.

Manufacturing time depends on the glass chosen. You are told at the quote stage, not afterwards.

Many home insurance policies cover glass breakage, but not all, and not always every pane. Check your policy. We give you a detailed invoice and a job report with before/after photos to send to your insurer. Whether you are reimbursed depends on your insurer and your policy.
