Choose your situation

Each situation has its own method and price. Pick yours to see what to do while you wait and what we will ask you.

Emergency call-outs, repairs and installation: our locksmith services

These are the jobs we do most often, for households, shops and the shared areas of apartment buildings.

Lockouts: slammed or locked doors

Keys left inside, a door blown shut by a draught, a locked deadbolt and lost keys: the most common reason to call a locksmith. Depending on the door, it opens without damage or a part has to be replaced. See door slammed shut and locked out.

Jammed lock or a key that won't turn

A lock jams through wear, a latch rubbing on the strike plate, a door that has moved with damp, or an attempted break-in. Don't force the key: that's how it snaps.

A repair is often enough: adjusting the strike plate, cleaning, replacing one part. If the mechanism is too worn, we suggest a lock change and give you the price before starting.

Broken key in the lock

The broken piece can usually be extracted without damaging the lock. Skip the glue and paper clips, which push it further in. See key broken in the lock.

Lost or stolen keys

If your keys were lost with something showing your address, or stolen with your bag, have the cylinder changed straight away. It's a short job, explained on lock cylinder replacement.

Lock installation and lock changes

We also fit new locks: surface-mounted (rim) locks, mortice locks, and 3-point or multipoint locks on front doors. Lock installation comes with a free quote: send a photo of the door and the current lock on WhatsApp and we reply with the options and a fitted price.

Securing your home after a break-in

After a burglary or an attempted break-in, the first priority is a door that locks again. We repair or replace the damaged lock and give you an invoice and an intervention report. Depending on your insurer and policy, you can use them to claim. See secure your home after a burglary and what to do after a burglary.

Safes and garage doors

Forgotten combination, lost safe key, a garage door lock that won't turn: see safes and garage doors.

Something else wrong in the house? We also handle water leaks (plumber), broken windows (glazier) and stuck roller shutters.

Emergency locksmith: how a call-out works

Every call-out follows the same steps. The aim: get to you quickly, do tidy work and leave no nasty surprise on the invoice.

  1. You call or message on WhatsApp — Tell us what happened: slammed or locked, what kind of door, the address. A photo of the lock helps a lot.
  2. We give you the price — You know the price including VAT, and any surcharge, before the locksmith sets off. Then you decide.
  3. The locksmith gets to work — They check that you live there, explain what they'll do and start with the least destructive method. If a part needs replacing, they tell you first.
  4. Invoice and intervention report — The door is tested with you. You get a detailed invoice and, if needed, an intervention report for your insurer.

While you wait: don't force the lock and don't drill anything yourself. If the door just swung shut behind you, read what to do when your door slams shut.

Our starting prices

You get the price before we travel. It depends on whether the door is slammed or locked, whether a part needs replacing, and the time of day.

Several customers say it in their Google reviews: the price quoted is the price charged. All amounts include 17% VAT. For a planned lock change or installation, the quote is free.

Opening a slammed door

The door closed on its latch, with no key turned. The simplest and cheapest case.

Opening a locked door

The deadbolt is engaged. It takes longer and sometimes needs a new cylinder.

Cylinder replacement

Part plus fitting, depending on the security level you choose. We show you the options first.

Night, weekend and public holiday surcharges

If a surcharge applies, we tell you when you call, together with the total. Nothing is added on site without your agreement.

Starting prices for a typical job. The exact amount depends on the situation (access, part, time): we give it to you on the phone before we travel, night or weekend surcharge included, and that is what you are invoiced.

Opening without damage: when it works and when it doesn't

On a door that has only slammed shut, the latch can often be opened without touching the cylinder.

On a locked door, a security door or a multipoint lock, that isn't always possible. Sometimes the cylinder has to be drilled and replaced. We tell you before we start, with the price.

Be wary of anyone who promises “no damage, every time” over the phone without seeing the door.

Before opening, we will ask for proof that you live there (ID showing the address, lease, or a letter in your name). It protects you and your neighbours.

Which cylinder? Standards and security grades

A security cylinder is read from its markings. Here is what they mean. For more detail, see our guide to choosing a security cylinder.

  • Flat in a residence: high key-security grade and anti-snap protection.
  • House: attack-resistant cylinder and, ideally, an RC2 door or better.
  • Shop: cylinder with a key control card to keep track of copies.

EN 1303: the European cylinder standard

It grades a cylinder with an eight-character code. The last two matter most: key-related security (1 to 6, 6 being highest) and attack resistance (0 to D).

EN 1627: resistance of the whole door

This standard covers door, frame and hardware together, in classes RC1 to RC6. A good cylinder in a weak door is still a weak point.

VdS and A2P: insurer-backed certifications

VdS is a German certification, A2P a French one issued by CNPP (one to three stars). Some home insurance policies require them, so check yours.

Key control card

With some cylinders, copies can only be cut on presentation of a card. Useful for rentals or after losing keys.

Finding a locksmith you can trust: what to check

When you're locked out, you call the first number you find. Take two minutes to check these points: they prevent most bad surprises, with us or with any other locksmith.

  • A price before travel, including VAT and any surcharge. “We'll see when we get there” is a bad sign.
  • A company you can identify: name, address, trade register number. Ours is B296585.
  • An explanation before anything is drilled: a good locksmith tries non-destructive entry first and tells you before drilling.
  • A detailed invoice with parts and labour shown separately.
  • Reviews you can check on Google, not just quotes on their own website.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a locksmith cost in Luxembourg?

There's no single rate: it depends on the door, the lock, any parts needed and the time of day. We give you the price including VAT by phone or WhatsApp, before we travel. Our starting prices are on the prices page.

How much does an emergency locksmith cost at night or at weekends?

At night, at weekends and on public holidays a surcharge may apply. It's included in the total we quote before travelling. Nothing is added on site without your agreement.

Is the quote free?

Yes. For an emergency, we give you the price free of charge by phone or WhatsApp. For a planned lock change or installation, we send a free quote based on photos.

What should I do if my lock is jammed?

Don't force the key. Push or pull the door slightly while turning it: often the latch is rubbing on the strike plate. If nothing moves, call us. A jammed lock can often be repaired without replacing everything.

Do you come out at night and at weekends?

Yes, we answer 24/7, public holidays included. Any surcharge is included in the total we quote before travelling.

Can you open my door without damaging it?

On a slammed door, usually yes. On a locked or security door, the cylinder sometimes has to be replaced. We tell you before starting.

What proof do I need?

Proof that you live there: ID showing the address, a lease or post in your name. If it's inside, you show it once the door is open.

Do you speak English?

Yes. We work in French and English, by phone and on WhatsApp.

Will I get an invoice for my insurer?

Yes, you receive a detailed invoice and an intervention report. Depending on your insurer and policy, you can use them to make a claim. Your insurer will tell you what your policy covers.
