Broken window: secured the same day, replaced to measure

• Keep children and pets away: shards travel far, especially on tiled floors, and cuts happen fast.
• Wear thick gloves and closed shoes. Never pick up pieces with bare hands.
• Do not pull out a piece still stuck in the frame: it can drop suddenly.
• If the pane is cracked but still in place, tape it with wide tape in a cross.
• Take photos of the window and the room before cleaning up: your insurer may ask for them.

To give you a fair price before we travel, we need a few details. Send them on WhatsApp; it takes two minutes.

• A photo of the whole window, from outside if possible, and a close-up of the edge of the glass.
• The visible width and height of the glass, even roughly (to the nearest centimetre is perfect).
• Frame type: wood, PVC or aluminium.
• Floor and access: can the pane be reached from inside?
• If you can see it, the marking etched in a corner of the glass or on the spacer bar: it often tells us the glass type.

1. Price upfront — Based on your photos, we give you the price of the boarding. You approve before the technician sets off.
2. Securing — Shards removed, rebate cleaned, temporary panel fixed into the frame. Your home is closed.
3. Measuring — Exact measurements of the glass and glazing bead. We suggest the right glass for those dimensions and confirm the price before ordering.
4. Fitting — New glass fitted, seals or putty redone to suit the frame, opening checked and finished cleanly. Before/after photos and detailed invoice.

Boarding is usually done on the first visit. The final glass is made to measure: the lead time depends on the glass type and is given at the quote stage.

The glass price depends on surface area, glass type (single glazing, double, triple, laminated, toughened) and access. It is confirmed from a photo before the job, and the price quoted is the price invoiced. Had single glazing? If the frame allows it, we also offer double glazing for better insulation, with both prices.

Depending on your policy, glass breakage cover may pay for the replacement, with or without an excess, and not necessarily for every glazed surface: check your policy.
