Locksmith after a burglary: your home secured the same evening, paperwork ready for your insurer
You come home and the door has been forced. It's a shock. You don't have to handle it alone: follow the steps below, then call us. We get your home locked again before nightfall and give you the documents your home insurance will ask for.
- Price quoted = price paid
- Itemised invoice for your insurer
- Emergency: on site within 2 hours, anywhere in Luxembourg

After a break-in: 5 things to do before the locksmith arrives
- Call the Grand Ducal Police (113) — Don't go in if you think someone may still be inside. In immediate danger, call 112. The police record the damage and tell you how to file a complaint.
- Don't touch anything — Leave everything as it is until the police have been. Traces matter for the investigation.
- Photograph everything — Door, lock, windows, searched rooms. You'll need them for the police report and your insurance claim.
- Report the claim to your insurer — Do it as soon as possible: the deadline is in your home insurance policy, so check it. Note the police report number; you'll be asked for it.
- Call a locksmith to secure the door — Once the police have finished, call us or message us on WhatsApp: your home needs to lock before night.
What our locksmith does on site
One call for the lock, the glass and the shutters, so you don't have to juggle several tradespeople that night. First comes the emergency securing: your home locks again. The permanent repair follows if a part has to be made to measure.
Forced lock or snapped cylinder
Replacing a snapped or drilled cylinder, repairing a forced lock, or fitting a new one if it can't be saved. You get the price before we fit anything.
Glass and temporary boarding
If a pane was smashed to get in, we fit a security panel. The permanent glass is then made to measure. See broken window replacement.
Shutters and other entry points
Lifted or forced roller shutter, cellar door, garage door: we check the other ways in before leaving.
Keys stolen in the burglary
If a set of keys is missing, have the locks they fit changed, even if the door wasn't forced. The old keys must no longer open anything in your home.
Before starting, we'll ask for proof that you live there. After a break-in, that matters even more.
Home insurance: getting the locksmith reimbursed
The question we hear most after a burglary: will my insurance pay for the locksmith? It depends on your insurer and your policy. Our job is to give you a complete file so the claim is easy to make.
What we give you
- A detailed invoice: parts replaced, labour, emergency securing.
- An intervention report describing the damage we found on arrival and the work we did.
- On request, photos of the damage before repair, sent on WhatsApp.
How to claim it back
- Report the claim as soon as possible, within the deadline in your policy.
- Attach the police report receipt, your photos, the locksmith's invoice and the intervention report.
- Keep the broken parts (cylinder, lock) until the loss adjuster has seen them or your insurer says you can throw them away.
What your home insurance may cover
Many policies include theft cover that pays for emergency securing and replacing locks after a break-in. Others cap these costs or apply an excess. Read the cover in your policy or ask your insurer directly: only they can confirm how much you'll get back. For the process, see insurance claims.
Price and free quote
The price depends on what was damaged. We give you the price of the emergency securing, including 17% VAT, by phone before we travel. If further repairs are needed once on site, you get a free quote before we do them.
We answer the phone in English and French, 24/7, nights and weekends included: call us.
Rapide, efficace : j'ai perdu ma clé et ils sont venus en moins de 2 h. Ils ont changé ma serrure rapidement, proprement et efficacement.
Securing the door so it doesn't happen again
A burgled home is sometimes targeted again, because the burglars know it. Once the shock has passed, look with our technician at where the door gave way.
Snapped cylinder: a high-security cylinder with anti-snap protection. Forced at the frame: a multipoint lock or a door rated RC2 or higher under EN 1627. Smashed pane: burglar-resistant laminated glass.
One simple habit helps too: always lock the door when you leave. A door that's only pulled shut is held by the latch alone and is far easier to open than a locked one.
We explain the options and prices, with no pressure. See also choosing a security cylinder.

Frequently asked questions
Who should I call after a burglary?
First the Grand Ducal Police on 113 (112 if you're in danger). Then your insurer to report the claim, and a locksmith to get the home locking again. We work 24/7 across Luxembourg.
Should I wait for the police before repairs?
Yes, where possible. The police need to see the scene as it is. Once they've finished, we can secure the door straight away.
Which insurance covers a locksmith?
Usually your home insurance, under its theft cover, if your policy includes it. Reimbursement depends on your insurer and your policy. We give you the invoice and intervention report to send them.
Do I have to pay the locksmith upfront?
Usually, yes: you pay the invoice, then send it to your insurer with the intervention report. Some insurers arrange the call-out themselves, so ask them first if that applies to you.
Can you come at night?
Yes, 24/7. The total price, including any surcharge, is given before we travel.
Can you fix the lock and the window in one go?
We secure both in the same visit: new lock or cylinder, and a temporary panel. The made-to-measure glass is fitted on a second visit.
