Locksmith

Locksmith prices in Luxembourg in 2026: what drives the price

A locksmith's price is no mystery. It depends on four or five factors you can know before anyone travels. Here they are, and how to get a firm price over the phone.

  • Price quoted = price paid
  • Itemised invoice for your insurer
  • Emergency: on site within 2 hours, anywhere in Luxembourg

The five factors behind the price

Slammed or locked

This is the first question. A slammed door is opened by working on the latch, often quickly. A locked door takes longer and sometimes needs a new cylinder.

Type of door and lock

A standard flat door, a security door or a multipoint lock don't take the same time or tools.

Time and day

A surcharge is common at night, at weekends and on public holidays. It should be included in the quoted price, never added to the invoice.

Parts

A standard cylinder and a high-security cylinder are not the same price. Ask which part is offered, and why.

Travel

Depending on distance, travel costs may apply. You should know them before the technician leaves.

How to get a firm price over the phone

With this information, the quoted price matches the invoice in the vast majority of cases.

  • Say whether the door is slammed or locked.
  • Describe the door: flat, house, security door, number of locking points.
  • Send a photo of the lock and cylinder on WhatsApp if you can.
  • Give your town and the time you will be on site.

Warning signs

  • No price on the phone, just “we'll see when we get there”.
  • A very low headline price with no detail on what it covers.
  • A lock replacement suggested straight away for a door that is only slammed.
  • A company with no identifiable address or RCS number.
  • Cash-only payment and no itemised invoice.

VAT, invoices and insurance

In Luxembourg, consumer prices include VAT at 17%. Always ask for an itemised invoice: your insurer needs it, for example after a burglary or lost keys.

Our starting prices are published on our prices page. Amounts appear there once confirmed; otherwise we give you the price on the phone before any call-out.

When the cheapest option is the wrong sum

A budget cylinder fitted after a break-in saves money today and costs far more the day it gives way. For a front door, ask what security level is offered and what your insurer requires.

The other way round: for a slammed door, turn down a lock replacement you don't need.

Frequently asked questions

Can the phone price change on site?

Only if the real problem differs from the one described (for example a locked door rather than a slammed one). The new price must then be given before work starts, and you can say no.

Is VAT included in the prices shown?

Our consumer prices always include Luxembourg VAT at 17%.

Why does a night call-out cost more?

Having a technician available at night, at weekends and on holidays has a real cost. What matters is that the surcharge is announced and included before we travel.

Can my insurance cover the locksmith?

It depends on your policy and the cause (burglary, lost or stolen keys). Check your cover and keep the itemised invoice.
