One town house, several flats
Between the Glacis, avenue Pasteur and avenue Victor Hugo, many houses were built for one family and later split into two, three or four flats. Each new bathroom was connected to the original soil stack, often cast iron, which runs down one corner of the house to the cellar.
So several flats share one drain, with joints added at different times. When the top-floor toilet drains slowly and the cellar smells of sewage, the blockage is usually at the foot of the stack, where it meets the pipe to the street. That is where we start.
In old cast iron, deposits stick to the walls and the bore narrows. After clearing it, a camera inspection shows whether the pipe is just dirty or cracked, and high-pressure jetting up to 200 bar cleans the wall along its whole length.
Flatshares and student lets
Around the University’s Limpertsberg campus and the local secondary schools, such as the Lycée de Garçons or the schools on avenue Pasteur, many flats are let as flatshares. A kitchen shared by four people gets a lot of grease and food scraps, so the sink blocks more often than in a family home.
Often the landlord does not live nearby. We take before and after photos and write a job report: the tenant forwards it to the landlord or agency, who can see what was done without coming over. The itemised invoice can be made out to the landlord.
Tenants can call us directly: the price is given before we travel, so you can get the landlord’s agreement first if you want to.

Helping the technician find the right door
A split house often has several doorbells and sometimes an entrance through the courtyard. Give us the street and number, the floor, the name on the bell, and tell us how to get to the cellar if the problem comes from below.
In late August and early September the Schueberfouer funfair takes over the Glacis and parking gets hard in the streets around it. If there is a space in front of your garage or in a courtyard, mention it on the phone. The easiest is to send the address and a photo on WhatsApp.

What our customers say
Matthieu Z. says we were quick and efficient, and gave him maintenance advice so the problem would not come back. After clearing a sink we always explain what should not go down it, which helps a lot in a flatshare. Reviews are shown in their original French.

Frequently asked questions
My cellar smells of sewage and the upstairs toilet drains slowly. Are they linked?
Often, yes. In a split house every flat drains into the same stack. If it is blocked at the bottom, water backs up and the smell comes up through the cellar. We clear it from the bottom and check the stack with a camera.
I live in a flatshare. Can I call without the landlord?
Yes. We give the price on the phone before we travel, so you can ask the landlord first. Afterwards they receive the photos, the report and the itemised invoice, in their name if they wish.
Do old cast-iron pipes need replacing?
Not necessarily. Dirty cast iron can be cleaned by jetting. The camera shows whether there is a crack or a sag; if so, we show you the footage before any building work is discussed.
Do you come out during the Schueberfouer?
Yes, we work 24/7, funfair or not. Just tell us where we can park near you.
