Plumber in the Gare district
Avenue de la Liberté, Rue de Strasbourg, Rue Joseph Junck: the Gare district is made of older buildings with a shop at street level and rented flats above. A single waste stack often serves the whole building, and that is where most problems start.

One stack for the whole building
Most buildings in the district date from the late 19th or early 20th century. Toilets, kitchens and bathrooms on every floor drain into a shared stack, often still cast iron in its lower part, which runs down to the cellar before joining the sewer.
Over the years, bathrooms were added in former bedrooms and their pipes extended to reach the stack. These long, shallow runs block more easily. When the stack itself blocks, the lower flats overflow first.
Three situations we often see in Gare
- Water comes up on the ground floor or in the cellar when the upper floors use water: the stack is blocked further down. We clear it by high-pressure jetting up to 200 bar and check it with a camera if needed. See blocked drain.
- A water stain on the ceiling: the leak is usually in the flat above (hose, bath seal, toilet connector). We need access to the neighbour’s flat to find it. See water leak.
- The toilet drains slowly or gurgles in an older flat: an over-long or partly blocked branch pipe, before the stack. See blocked toilet.
If water comes up in your flat when the neighbours flush, stop using water and call us. The longer you wait, the more water reaches the cellar or ground floor.
Restaurants and shops at street level
The district has many restaurants, snack bars and shops on the ground floor. Kitchen grease sets in the waste pipes and gradually narrows them, both for the business and for the building’s stack.
We come before opening, after closing or during the night so you can open again. The invoice is itemised and can be in the company’s name. See blocked sink and our page for property managers and businesses.
Tenant, landlord, syndic: what we give you
In Gare, many flats are rented, often through an agency. When the problem is in a shared part of the building, the tenant needs to be able to show it to the landlord or the syndic.
We take before and after photos and write a report: where the blockage or leak was, what was done, and whether the shared stack was involved. Together with the itemised invoice, that is usually what the landlord, syndic or insurer asks for.
Pinpointing the address
The district runs from the central station to the Pont Adolphe and the Plateau Bourbon, around Avenue de la Liberté and Avenue de la Gare, where the tram runs. Give us the street and a landmark: Place de Paris, Place de Metz, Rue de Strasbourg or Rue du Fort Neipperg. Tell us the floor, the name on the doorbell and, if access is through a courtyard, how to get in.
Neighbouring districts have their own page: the Ville-Haute across the Pétrusse valley, Hollerich, and Bonnevoie on the other side of the tracks. For the whole city, see plumber in Luxembourg City.

Frequently asked questions
Water comes up in my ground-floor shower. Is it my pipe or the stack?
If it happens when the upper floors use water, it is almost always the shared stack further down. Stop using water, tell the syndic or landlord, and call us.
My bathroom ceiling is wet. Can you help?
Yes. The leak is usually in the flat above: let your neighbour know so we can get in. We find the source and repair it if it is a hose, a seal or a joint.
I run a restaurant. Can you come after service?
Yes, we answer 24/7. We agree a slot before opening, after closing or during the night.
What should I give my landlord after the job?
The itemised invoice, the before/after photos and our report. They show what was done and whether a shared part of the building was involved.
